Country Kitchen

The Country Kitchen is our very first set, ours came with a pair of Doughty Chiffon Dog children, but there aren't any collector's guide that has it. This set was later renamed to the: Deluxe Country Kitchen. The only difference was that the green cups and teapot became marked red and included two bowls.

These were the contents, there are 40 items (including each piece of clothing). There should be 41 items, but we lost one of the biscuits a long time ago.

Here's some photos with all the Country Kitchen items:

The Chiffon dogs are the same height and are identical without their clothes on. Back then, our little brother was teething so he bit off some of the fur from our critters. They can turn their heads and move their arms and legs.

Karen's one piece dress reminds me of farms and the country side. The top is white with a frilled collar while the skirt portion is checkered red. A brown bow is sewn between these two parts.

David has two pieces of clothing: a yellow shirt and checkered pants. The yellow shirt has a collar and is hemmed with blue thread. There is also a red  tie sewed on.

David's pants are blue and red with dark green and white lines. The checkered pants matched Karen's checkered dress design.

Time to compare, as you can see due to Skip's rabbit ears Skip is taller than David. They have the same shaped eyes and white fur.

Time to start with the furniture. To begin we have the dining table and chairs!

Table & Chairs

There are two chairs and one table. The chairs have a sea green bottom and the table is fully white.

Time for the next large item: Cabinet. A cabinet is a lovely essential to a kitchen because it stores food and your cooking implements and of course there's a miniauture one for your critter. I won't use a slideshow for the cabinet because I think it's better to show these vertical photos individualy. The photo below shows the cabinet with some items included already stored safely.

I'll start with the height. The cabinet is shorter than an adult rabbit and rabbit child. It is definitely taller than a baby rabbit. Also to your right or bottom (depends on what device you're currently using) is what the cabinet looks like when all the items are cleared.

A cool feature is that the drawers actually open. They can be pulled out and if the object is flat enought it can actually fit inside. Nothing in this set fits, however the Donut Gashapon plate fits or the spoons for the Deluxe Living Room Set. Cut out plates fit nicely in there too!

The top and bottom shelves can hold things too! At the top shelf you can put the included tea jars and salt and pepper shakers. For the bottom shelf you can put the two large baskets or the yellow cooking pot. (And in case you were wondering, the bottom shelf color is different because I used flash mode to show the depth of the shelf.

Time for the stove. This stove is sort of like a rectangular prism. There's three stove tops. The oven door can also open.

The stove tops have two large ones and one small. You can place pots, the flour pot and a teapot. The special feature about this stove (and all Calico Critters/Sylvanian Family stoves is that not only can the oven door open, it can put items in to bake. This set comes with a silver baking pan, a black biscuit baking mold and 3 biscuits. Like I said earlier, 1 biscuit was lost, but the others are still with us. The mold goes on the pan and the biscuits onto the mold and everything to the oven. This is adorable because it's like the critters are baking biscuits. Other food items can also go inside.

The stove is tall enough for an adult critter to cook, but a child critter is a little too short. Instead it needs a step stool, which is included in the Deluxe Bathroom set.

The final large piece of furniture that comes in this set is the sink. It about twice the length of the stove. One side if the sink and the cabinet bewlo it and the other offers an open space and two shelves for storage. Above is this hutch that can place even more items.

An amazing detail about Calico Critters/Sylvanian Families is how the sink door can always open. Plus, there is always a beautiful silver pipe. It's always been a fun thing to open the doors of the cabinet to find a cute pipe hidden.

Here's an example of the sink full of items for storage. When cooking time is over, everything has its own individual spot. The hutch/shelf literally has individual spots. It even comes with stickers, however this being our first set long ago, most of them fell off or were sticked on strangely.

Time for this set's accesorries!

First up, we have a matching tea set with plates. Everything compliments the other and the green matches the green on the dining room chairs too! Another cool feature about Calico Critters/Sylvanian Families is how the caps of the teapots are removable!

20210325_154358.jpg

Of course, a kitchen has pots to cook with. In this set, there's a yellow pot, a pot labeled, "FLOUR" a miniature clay pot and a wooden spatula.

Of course, the flour pot has a removable lid that can also work yellow pot's lid. Plus, the wooden spatula is a great cooking tool.

20210325_154245.jpg

There's also a chopping board and knife to chop up all the vegatables into an hearty stew or healthy salad. You could see how much detail there is, such as the chopping board's handle or how the knife has been painted.

20210325_154208.jpg

Here we have two cans of tea leaves and salt and pepper shakers. Both are amazingly detailed and you can see how the salt and pepper shakers have a molded on label. The tea cans have the word, "TEA" printed on.

20210325_153706.jpg

For food, there's an orange carrot and a green squash. We all know most critters are vegatarians because they're rabbits, sheep, llamas and deer.

20210325_153729.jpg

Since this set does not come with a fridge there's 4 wicker baskets included. That means you can store all your plates or delish veggies.

20210325_154533.jpg

In my opinion, one of the best features here are the biscuits. There's supoosed to be three biscuits, but as I said before we lost one. For this amazing feature there's a silver baking tay, a black biscuit mold and three biscuits. It's hard to see on camera but one side of the biscuit is lighter than the other. It could mean one side is a baked biscuit and the other is just dough or it was just a mistake in our set. So far though all the biscuits we have have this cool feature. Back to the pan, you put the biscuits in the mold and the mold into the tray and the tray goes into the oven. We really find this fun to play with and this shows how attention to detail Epoch is because they could have just have the mold and tray attached.

That's all for the Country Kitchen review and we hope you enjoyed itg!
