Gashapon: Tart Cake
A little backstory before we start the review. In Febuary, 2017 our family went to Japan. In Akihabara (a place in Tokyo) we found Sylvanian Families gashapon machines! We bought 4 of them and were lucky not to get any duplicates.
The tart cake gashapon was the first one we bought. We kept the little capsules they came in (hooray!), and now we can show you what it looks like before we opened them. This is what it looked like after it came out of the machine. The top cap is red and the bottome is clear-see plastic. The clear-see plastic lets you peek at what you got.
These were the contents of the gashapon. There are 7 items (including the 2 capsule halves and collector's guide).
Let's look at the collector's guide first. The front cover is the Village Cake Shop . Some children and babies are there admiring the beautiful pastries. The collector's guide unfolds into a long strip of paper showing the diffrent types of gashapon. (Sorry about my finger in these photos. I had to press down on it, so it won't bend.)
The tart cake is #1 on the guide. There is a bunny's head and a 1 in it. The bunny's head is explaining the theme of this pastry. The Japanese words translate to: Tart Cake. There are also cut out plates in the guide!
Now let's take a look at that tart cake. The tart cake itself a shaped like a rabbit's head. There isn't any removable pieces and is made a hard plastic. The crust is smooth on the bottom and has ridges on the sides. The top are strawberries or cherries in a bright red.
Displaying the tart cake is pretty fun too. The glass top is removable and the plate and server are in a nice matching light teal. Here's the tart cake displayed:
The plate and top are also detailed. The top even says Sylvanian Families in super tiny font and the plate is decorated with golden accents.
Overall, this is a beautiful edition top your critters. It's detailed to perfection and looks delicious. The tart cake has colors that pop and looks real, while the server, plate and top all have a nice touch that is perfect for your critters' tea party or dessert.
