Hopscotch Rabbit Twins
The Hopscotch Rabbit Twins have been getting a lot of publicity. Their family is ever expanding, but before this recent Bell face hype (if you watch the commercials) they were a simple family. Just a set of parents, older children, and two babies. Without further ado: here is what they looked like a few years ago.
Enough of me ranting: Let's get to the actual review today on the Hopscotch Rabbit Twins. Disclaimer: This set review is on an older version of the Hopscotch Rabbit Twins set from Calico Critters. The newer version has Hopper in yellow, not blue anymore. We'll start with what they look like in the box. Unfortunately, I threw the box away but this pose is what they pose as in the box.
For quality, this set is definitely very durable. we've had this set for about 5-6 years now with very little damage. I will say that our Hopper's face has lost a bit of fur due to our teething baby brother, but they are relatively the same besides a bit of dirtying. This photo here shows the fur loss so you can judge the quality after 5-6 years of constant play. You can also see how the chocolate ear tips coloring have worn out too.
Based on our experience, you might have to help young children out a bit when you get them this set. One, no teething children. Two, adult help is required if you really want every feature of the twins. Their clothing is made of soft colored cotton tied together with tiny little strings. Don't expect young children to be able to tie and untie those little strings by themselves. This picture just gives you an idea how miniscule the knots are.
If you have any other Calico Critters/ Sylvanian Families baby sets, you can expect the same size as the other babies but longer ears. The size ratio can easily be seen visually when I have Honey Hopscotch Rabbit and Ginni Golightly Silk Cat compared in their same sitting positions.
With Hopper compared to the so called sitting position babies, they are still roughly the same size. You can expect quality consistency throughout Calico Critter sets. The eyes are the same size. Their heads are roughly the same shape, besides the ears. Hopper's ears are significantly longer if you compare them with Ginni's cat ears that are much shorter compared to Hopper's.
I saved the best for last finally with my favorite part of this set! The accessories! The pacifier and milk bottle are to die for of cuteness. You can see how they have tiny bulbs at the end to attach to the babies' mouths. (A little gross, but you could totally mix and match bottle and pacifier colors with other Calico Critters baby twin sets).
So overall, a cute set that will last for a long, long time. Not for someone who is going to have problems bothering someone older to constantly help them put in the little accessories and dress and undress these adorable critters.
