Spring had arrived and everyone was happy. Every child from Sylvania or Cloverleaf Corners knew that Spring meant no school, home schooled or not. Since every critters’ roots started out from farming, spring was a cherished season. Not too dry, but not too much rain or snow. A long time ago, parents were too busy with farming during spring, therefore the children got vacation. During summer, they received half learning days since in the afternoon parents would return from the fields (because it had become too hot) and teach their children. In autumn, they were more holidays since parents would become busy with prepping for the winter. For winter, students had full studying days because parents stayed inside and it was too cold to go outside anyway. Now that it was spring, all the children were very happy. Though most parents were no longer farmers, traditions had been kept.
Bell could still remembered the thick blanket of snow everytime she pushed babies on the stroller. Everyone in the Cloverleaf Countryside woke up to the sun's beautiful rays. Harlin went to work cheerfully, not having to worry about his tires being worn down by the snow. “It’s spring!” yelled Skip, “And you know what that means! No studying!”
Bell smiled at her excited brother. Their mother told them since they started learning that spring meant holidays. “Come on,” beckoned Bellia to Bell, “I set everything up already.”
The next door neighbors were not as cheery as the children in the Deluxe Village house. Lily and Rose were fretting about tests at the dining table. “Should we assemble a study party?” Rose asked, “We could arrange one and everyone can study at our room.”
Lily shook her head, “No. It probably would not work.”
Just then Mason came down the stairs carrying his red dictionary, it was his favorite book and he loved quizzing his daughters with it. “Morning, daddy!” exclaimed the twins.
“Good morning. I’ll be off to the Deluxe Village house, bye!”
Mason strolled on over.
When he got there, Mason found Bellia sitting on the Tea and Treats table eating a pink macaroon and getting two pieces of chocolate. “Hello, Mr.Tuxedo,” smiles Bellia.
Instead of a warm greeting Mason says, “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Eating, of course.”
“But you should not be!”
“Why not?” inquires Bellia.
Mason answers, trying his best to stay calm, “Because there’s the Spring Term Test in two weeks.”
“That’s preposterous!” Bellia yells, clearly upset.
Bell comes out the door and sits down, pouring herself a cup of tea.
“Bell! There’s a test in two weeks!” informs Bellia.
“Test?! What test?” screams Skip as he rushes out the door.
Bell starts panicking, “Why didn’t anyone tell me?”
Mason sighs, “That’s what I am trying to say!”
“Well, how about you tell everyone, Bearer of Bad News?” remarks Skip, sourly.
Everyone walks in to find Karen reading a book and David enjoying biscuits and TV. “Mr.Tuxedo, what brings you here today?” asks Karen, looking up from her book.
“Would you like some coffee?” offers Heidi.
Mason replies, “No thank you, Heidi, I’m here to inform the children something. There will be a Spring Term Test in two weeks and it will be one of the most important tests of the entire year.”
One by one, the children starts panicking or falling onto the floor in sadness.
Mean while, Freya Chocolate sat at the dining table, nose in books. Her mother, Teri Choch, wanted Freya to exceed in everything. “Remember, I expect you to earn an 11/10!” Teri reminded.
“But Mr.Tuxedo barely gives 10/10’s!” whines Freya.
“And that’s exactly why i want you to get it,” explains Teri as she pours herself a glass of water. It’s going to be a long two weeks, Freya thinks to herself, A very long two weeks.
In the Deluxe Village House, the children were now in a study frenzy. “My holidays!” Skip groans as he grabs a book from the shelf.
Bell commands, “Just shut it and study! We only have 2 weeks.”
“Why?! WHY?!” continues Skip.
Bellia grumbles to her siblings, “It’s preposterous, I tell you. Simply preposterous! Preposterous!”
The Doughty children were downstairs studying when David realizes he needs to brush up on his science. He was in 5th grade and Karen was in 6th, since Karen was able to skip two grades ahead. “Hey, Karen, can you help me on science?” requested David.
Karen nods and her older brother explains that he needs to learn about the three states of matter. Karen decides to do an interactive lesson and takes her older brother down to the kitchen. (With Heidi’s permission); “First, you fill the pot with water. Water is a liquid. Now put the lid on the pot and watch what happens,” instructs Karen.
David does it and waits for about 5 minutes. Karen says, “Now you have to open the lid.”
When David does steam comes out, “Wow! Is this a gas?” he asks.
Karen answers, “Yup, now since it’s spring already there isn’t any snow, but remember, snow is a solid and those are your three states of matter. Liquid, gas and solid.”
“Thanks, sis! You’re the best!”
Hopefully the children would be ready for the Spring Term Tests.
Poor children! I know exactly what they feel whenever there's a surprise test😭
I feel for those children. Wish them the best of luck on their upcoming tests!
