Harlin Hopscotch woke up early that morning, Heidi had already prepared Harlin’s morning coffee and a slice of pound cake for breakfast.

“You do know the route, right?” asked Heidi.

“Of course! I wrote it down right here,” he said while taking out a small piece of paper, titled: MEMO.

“Good. Now, want anymore coffee? You have a long day ahead of you.”

“No, I best be leaving,” Harlin said getting up from the kitchen table,”Our house is quite far from town square.”

Heidi walked with her husband to their car, the Cherry Cruiser, while chatting about some old memories. Harlin got inside and Heidi went back. A few minutes later, Harlin was going down the hill, but Heidi ran out, carrying a tray of tarts. “Wait, the Chiffon dogs will be starving! Here’s some lunch,” hollered Heidi.

Harlin backed up, got out and opened the trunk of the car. Heidi gently placed the tray into the trunk and locked it for Harlin. Harlin then got in the car and waved goodbye. Heidi returned to the house to fix up some breakfast for her children.

Town square was busy as always. Critters going forward and back, left and right. It was the morning rush, everyone going to work. Now the children of Cloverleaf Corner didn’t go to school, instead they stayed at home and studied. Homes were far away from each other, so there were barely any playdates. Harlin thought of how happy Skip and Bell (his son and daughter) would be to have two new friends that would live with them. He parked at the center and grabbed the tray of tarts out from the trunk of the Cherry Cruiser. “Mr. Hopscotch, over here!” yelled a girl’s voice.

Harlin turned and saw two Chiffon dog children waving. He walked towards them smiling and waving. “Hello, Mr. Hopscotch, I’m Karen Doughty Chiffon Dog!” greeted the girl.

“And I’m David Doughty Chiffon dog,” said the boy.

“Well, hello! I have some tarts for the road. My wife made them for us. My house is far away from here,” replied Harlin.

David grabbed a chocolate tart and Karen grabbed a lemon. When they got in the car, Karen told Harlin that the first transfer of money will come tomorrow.

Harlin replied, “Thank you very much.”

“Thank you for taking us in, Mr. Hopscotch,” David said, munching on his chocolate tart.

Back at the Deluxe house, Skip and Bell were eating breakfast. Heidi had prepared biscuits and carrot tea for her children. Heidi then went up to feed her twin babies, Honey and Hopper. At the third floor (where the parent’s bedroom/nursery was), Hopper had been banging on the crib door, he was always an energetic baby. Honey however was softly cooing and admiring the soft, yellow blanket wrapped around her. “Come here,” Heidi said sweetly, as she unlocked the crib door. She picked up the babies and put them on her bed. She grabbed a bottle and gave it to Hopper. Then, she picked up Honey and placed her in a pink baby-sized chair behind a baby sized-table. Honey picked up a fork and started eating independently.

Honk, honk! “Mom, Dad’s here!” hollered Skip from below.
