Chiffons At Home Part 2

The Doughty Chiffon Dogs were having so much fun the past few days when they were left at the house alone while the Hopscotch Rabbits went on vacation. No more chores, unlimited treats to eat, and best of all quality time between just the two of them (and occasionally a few cute babies). They played so many games running around the three floors of the huge house, and participated in the baby plays.

On the second day of their vacation, they decided to have an all out TV marathon. They watched all the latest episodes of all the latest shows with their favorite donuts. They even let the babies, always so curious about the magic box that played pictures, sneak some peeks before their daily afternoon nap.

“Plezy, Ka-rin,” Ginni would ask in her cutest voice before naptime.

“Oh, alright,” Karen would say. She could never resist that cute face before naptime.

On the third day of their vacation, Karen and David played all day outside with the babies. They gave perfectly paced stroller rides, helped the babies onto the seesaw, and had sprinting races. (David would always remember to go easy on her sister, since he was one of the fastest critters in all of Cloverleaf Corners).

On the fourth day, after they had watched everything, had unlimited naps, played with the babies for countless hours, Karen and David couldn’t help but miss that old country feeling. How welcoming and kind the Hopscotch Rabbits had been! The smell of Heidi’s cooking would always waft into the living room and out into the patio. The chatter of all the children. It had been a fun three days so far, but they were homesick in their own homes. The empty Deluxe Village House didn’t have the same feeling anymore.

“I kinda do miss Skip’s joking,” David commented.

“And it’s not the same with the babies without Honey and Hopper,” Karen added.

“If only they were here now, how much fun we’d have together,” David responded,

They both sighed and stared at the innocent babies playing peacefully. The fourth day passed slowly. Karen would constantly glance at the clock on the mantle of the big fireplace in the Deluxe Living Room.

“We’ll be back by 1,” Heidi had written on her memo cards full of worried instructions.

Finally, after some pacing and lunch of leftover boiled flour, the Hopscotch Rabbit Family burst through the front door.

“We’re back!” Bell excitedly announced as she skipped through the door.

Heidi, always worrying out of good intent, rushed to check on the babies and Chiffon Dogs.

“Did anything happen? Did Teri forget to check on you guys?” she bombarded the Doughty Chiffon Dog children with questions.

“No, no, don’t worry,” answered Karen Doughty Chiffon Dog.

“We have a surprise for you,” Bell said. Skip then rushed towards Karen and David with a large plate in his hand. It was the kind of plate Heidi would make Harlin get from the Village Cake Shop to pack him a slice of pound cake as a snack for work. It was a cute mint green plate with white too.

David looked inside and rushed with excitement. There were six beautiful macaroons of three pastel colors: pink, yellow, and purple. They were petite and bite sized.

“They’re for you. We drove through town to pick up some. They’re delicious!” Skip explained.

Karen and David each grabbed one and popped it into their mouth.

“Mmmm,” they savored at the same time.

What a way to end a vacation for all. Fun throughout the four days and a sweet reunion to top it all off!
