"My Kabe" Part 1

Writer's picture: Posh PearPosh Pear

“In a month, are you sure?” Teri asked.

Frasier Chocolate (who was on a phone call with his wife) stated, “Yes, I am sure. Just be there to pick him up.”

“That is VERY TERI news!” exclaimed Teri.

“Indeed,” agreed her husband, before adding, “So what are you going to feed Breeze and Kabe? They are babies after all, too much sundaes are bad for them.”

Teri peered over her shoulder, spotting Breeze cheerfully enjoying a sundae. “Oh, um, I’ll think about it. Bye dear!”

“Mother, is it true? Is Kabe really coming? Can I tell Breeze?” bombarded Freya Chocolate, Teri’s daughter.

Teri hastily answered, “Yes, yes and no. Now, what will I feed him?”

Freya took this as an opportunity for another health pitch. “You should make home cooked meals! A compact kitchen would fit perfectly and home cooked meals are healthier. You have no idea what they put in pizza!”

Teri finally agreed, on the condition that she gets a customized kitchen. She didn’t fancy the country-like stoves her sister had, and she wasn’t too fond of Natalie’s small stove and sink. Freya agreed and grabbed out some paper and a pencil. She started sketching her mother’s dream kitchen. “Smaller, wait no, bigger! Definitely taller, please! Freya, add some flower designs! Freya, that looks like an acorn!” requested, more like demanded Teri.

Freya sighed and grabbed another piece of paper, and began drawing again. Hours passed, and finally Teri was satisfied. All she had to do now was send the design to Andrew Woodbrook Beaver, the town builder. Teri quickly made a trip to town,

and patiently waited for a call.

In the meantime, Teri reminisced about baby son, Kabe Chocolate Rabbit. Kabe was Breeze’s twin and unlike all the other Chocolate Rabbit children, Kabe was the most “difficult”. Kabe would wake up in the middle of the night for he remembered he forgot to take a shampoo bottle out of its hiding place under the table. Teri remembered Kabe running around their home in Sylvania, usually with a fork or pencil in his front paws as he played hide and seek with the objects. It would begin with Kabe choosing his playmates, typically a fork, spoon or cup. Next, Kabe was crawling around the room hiding his “friends” before trying to seek them out sooner. Her son just couldn’t seem to understand that not everything is alive and he should not play hide and seek with the furniture. She chuckled, remembering how her groceries would disappear in the afternoon but reappear hours later in the tub when everyone was put to bed.

Ring, ring! Teri jumped up and picked up the telephone in her soft white paws. “Hello?”

“Hi, Mrs.Choch, I’m Andrew Woodbrook! I received your kitchen designs-lovely drawings by the way-and I’d love to make it happen. Give me 1 week to get all the supplies and I’ll be by next Wednesday,” said the busy beaver.

“That’s wondrous! See you next Wednesday, Mr.Woodbrook,” stated Teri happily.

“Goodbye, oh, and one more thing. Could I get an autograph from you, my daughter adores your VERY TERI posts,” asks Andrew.

Teri replies, “Of course, anything for a fan of VERY TERI! Goodbye, Mr.Woodbrook.”

“Bye bye and thanks.”

2 days later, Teri received a package. Inside it contained a large drawer with slots on the inside.

Inside also included a small MEMO card from Andrew Woodbrook:

Teri smiled with satisfaction, the material felt smooth in her paws and she adored the color. Teri quickly called Andrew and invited her sister over to check it out. “Wow!” comments Heidi, “Fancy and the print is beautiful!”

Teri gushes, “I know right? It’s VERY TERI, come on sis, you gotta admit it.”

“Yes, yes, it’s nice. Not my style, but still lovely indeed. The flower designs match your table too!”

On Wednesday, Mr.Woodbrooke and a group of critters he hired came in and connected everything. From electricity wires, to cooking gas, to water pipes, all was slowly finished. By Saturday, the stove and sink was moved to their places and everything was up and running. Andrew gave Teri a quick lesson on how everything works (oven, dishwasher, stove, etc.) and left her in her cloud of joy. The telephone was moved to a different corner, since the stove now took its place. Andrew was kind enough to make a new phone line for the new spot, free of charge.

Frasier Chocolate (Teri’s husband) heard of this and even sent his wife a thoughtful present.

Inside were the fanciest salt and pepper shakers. Teri’s younger sister and neighbor, Heidi, gifted her sister a small frying pan with a matching handle. Natalie, Teri’s good friend, got Teri an assortment of cooking utensils. Ranging from a knife, to a chopping board, to a spatula. The colors all matched, as if the three parties had already planned for it...

“Ooo,” Freya said as she admired the flower engravings all over the new kitchen.

“VERY TERI kitchen and accessories,” Breeze added.

“I love it!” Teri states.

Teri smiles and starts putting her plates on the shelf above the sink. “When will you begin cooking?” Freya asks with excitement.

“Soon, soon,” waved off Teri, “One thing at a time, now let’s have dinner.”

Dinner would be finger foods, salads and lemonade. Teri quickly ate and started putting the dishes in the dishwasher.

She would no longer have to go to the tub outside and wash the dirty dishes herself. (Doing the dishes was one of Teri’s least favorite chores, so that’s why she specially requested a dishwasher) She smiles as she pops the drawer in and a light hum from the dishwasher starts.

In the meantime, she calls her husband, thanking him for the shakers. “They’re beautiful, Frasier.”

“I’m glad you liked them,” Frasier says.

“I have more good news!” Teri glees, “The kitchen was fully paid for with the money I got from writing VERY TERI! Isn’t that wonderful?”

Frasier chuckles, “Teri, it is. However, if you ever need anything, let me know. I can and will buy it for you.”

“Thank you, Frasier. I love you, now I gotta go. Bye!”

“I love you too, Teri, bye bye.”

That night, Teri organized her kitchen. Each item got their own spot and she happily sighed as she took a step back and admire the grand thing. It was compact, fancy, new and...VERY TERI.

The new kitchen is really beautiful. I love how you put so much details in describing how nice it is. I admit, I have this stove for a while now but I didn't see how pretty is was until i saw your pictures and description. Glad for Teri to get this new addition to her home ^_^

We’re glad Teri will have a kitchen now, too. We got this stove recently, and just knew it would be perfect for her family. Thanks for reading and your nice comment!
