VERY TERI: Frocks

Writer's picture: Posh PearPosh Pear

It was a fine autumn day. The air was slightly chilly with the occasional breeze coming through the windows. “I tell you,” ranted Teri to Heidi during brunch, “Natalie has the right idea. Those shutters must be great right now!”

“Yes,” agreed Heidi, “Well, what’s going to be your next VERY TERI?”

“Frocks,” stated Teri, “I just love Breeze’s frock, it’s so VERY TERI!”

“I used to buy frocks for Bellia and Stella, before I switched to diapers with Bell,” claimed Heidi.

“No, frocks are excellent! I use frocks for all my children. They’re VERY TERI, flexible and soft!”

The sisters finished their brunch and Teri headed home. Breeze and Kabe were having a playdate with Luke.

While Freya decided to stay at home and enjoy the hot tub to herself.

“Freya, I’m home!” announced Teri.

Freya quickly dried off, and greeted her mother before going off to pick up Breeze and Kabe from Luke’s treehouse. “And don’t forget your hat!” Teri reminded.

Freya and her siblings arrived in 30 minutes, with Kabe shivering cold, but Breeze perfectly warm in her soft yellow frock.

Teri knew she was right, a frock really did help. Curious about her thoughts, Teri decided to do some research after lunch. She chose to call Ginni’s parents, “Hello, this is Fred Golightly Silk speaking,” answered Ginni’s father.

“Hi Fred, it’s me, Teri Choch,” greeted Teri, “We met before I moved to Sylvania and I brought your daughter Ginni with me. You said you wanted her to learn the Cloverleaf Corners culture.”

Fred paused and thought about Teri Choch, “Hello Teri! How are you doing? I know you already told me Ginni moved in with the Tuxedo Cats.”

Teri quickly explained what she wanted to know, why did Fred and his wife, Holly, choose to buy a frock for Ginni instead of a traditional diaper. Fred answered, “Well, you know Ginni is very specific. The frock’s material was so soft and she’s allergic to what the diapers used to be made of. They changed the material now, but Ginni just wouldn’t change to diapers like the rest of her siblings.”

Teri thanked Fred for his response and moved onto the next interview, a much more difficult one. Henry’s parents Kate and Alex were well known and proud doctors in Sylvania. They had sent Henry to the Cloverleaf Countryside shortly after they started traveling across Sylvania to help heal critters. The time they spent out on the road was unfair to little Henry, who would need constant care. (Plus, Henry had narcolepsy) It came to the decision that Henry should be sent to Heidi Choch’s house, where she was known for caring for any child.

The call to the Periwinkle Milk Rabbits proved to be difficult. Therefore, Teri decided she better start cooking dinner, tonight's special was grilled vegetables with salt and pepper.

Finally, late after dinner, Alex answered. “Hello, who is this? I’m a busy doctor so I don’t have time for games.”

Teri (slightly annoyed) quickly cut to the chase, “Hi there! I’m Teri Choch, writer of VERY TERI. I’m doing some research and I am curious with why Henry wears a frock.”

“Oh! I thought you needed medical advice, me being a doctor and all, many critters call for my excellent health advice!” Alex admitted rather proudly.

Teri replied, “I see, well I’m perfectly fine you know. I follow my very own health advice, I suppose you read it. It’s was VERY TERI: Stay Healthy!”

“Oh, well, what you wrote isn’t exactly true,” started Alex.

“WHAT?! HOW DARE YOU?!” Teri interrupted.

“Let’s say, you were taking a walk, well a tree branch could fall on you. Or...or you get hit by a car! You must consider everything!” stated Alex, “Take it from me, a doctor’s advice.”

“Doctor’s advice? Doctor’s advice?! Well, let me tell you something right-”

Freya heard the conversation and quickly intervened. “I am so sorry, Doctor Alex!” she stated, “My mother gets very emotional, though she means well! She’ll be happy to bury the hatchet, my mother is a very kind critter!”

Alex took these words in and considering the 11 year old Freya, forgave Teri and told Freya why he bought Henry a teal frock instead pf going with diapers. Freya kept apologizing before hanging up. Teri was still fuming angrily, she was very upset with Doctor Alex.

As it turned out, Teri was right. Henry’s frock was far more breathable than a diaper, which was useful because Henry liked to toss and turn when he slept, which he did often.

After gathering all her research, Teri was ready to write.

Teri happily read her post the very next morning during breakfast when Freya helped organize the kitchen.

Apparently, she had just gave her opinion on one of the many friendly controversies all across Sylvania and the Cloverleaf Corners. Just like that, Frasier gave Teri a happy call in the afternoon. Apparently, Teri’s post had made it into the 1st page of the Sylvanian Times. It sparked interests of many, and Teri wondered, when will these wonders cease?

Haha, this story is adorable! I loved Teri's article at the end. Frocks definitely sound more comfortable than diapers--and as a baby I remember not enjoying the feeling of diapers--if I only lived in Sylvania and wore a frock instead 😂

That's so true, sis! Country or city? Soup or stew? Tarts or donuts? (Honey would say BOTH)🤣
